Ursula von der Leyen encourages Podgorica to aim for EU membership by 2028

Following her visit to Tirana (see EUROPE B13729A13), the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, travelled to Podgorica on Tuesday 14 October to reaffirm the European Union’s support for Montenegro on the road to EU membership.

The President of the European Commission was very enthusiastic, describing Montenegro as a “leader” among the candidate countries.
