S&D group in European Parliament committed to creation of ‘social leasing’ for electric cars at European level

On Tuesday 14 October, the Socialists and Democrats (S&D) group in the European Parliament announced its commitment to a European social leasing scheme to make electric vehicles accessible to low- and middle-income households.

Recommended by several experts and stakeholders (see EUROPE B13520A12, B13623A12), this system should make it possible to benefit from a vehicle without having to purchase it, by paying monthly rentals. Although the European Commission does not rule out this solution...
