European politicians call for creation of an Atlantic macro-region

At an event held at the European Parliament on Tuesday 14 October, a number of European politicians expressed their desire to create an Atlantic macro-region(see EUROPE B12791A22).

Oihane Agirregoitia Martínez (Renew Europe, Spanish) emphasised the strategic role that the macro-region could play in raising the visibility, creating new opportunities and increasing the political, economic and social influence of the Atlantic regions.
