Despite progress on spending, major gaps remain in defence, according to study by Bruegel and Kiel Institute

In a new study published on Thursday 19 June, the Bruegel think tank and the Kiel Institute consider that, while spending on military equipment has more than doubled in recent years, “substantial gaps remain that will have to be addressed”.

According to these institutions, the essential step will be to translate spending into real capabilities and sustained growth in European force generation, sustainment and military modernisation.
