Share of renewable energies in EU’s net electricity production fell in first quarter of 2025

19/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – In the first quarter of 2025, renewable sources accounted for 42.5% of the net electricity produced in the EU, down 4.3 percentage points on the same period in 2024 (46.8%), Eurostat reports on Thursday 19 June. Despite an increase in solar generation (from 40.9 TWh to 55 TWh), falls in hydro and wind generation (from 260.5 TWh to 218.5 TWh) led to an overall decline.
