19/06/25 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 19 June, the President of the European Economic and Social Committee, Oliver Röpke, signed a new memorandum of understanding with the Belarusian Democratic Forces, represented by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. “This protocol will formalise our cooperation and lay the foundations for joint initiatives to raise awareness of the internal situation in Belarus with regard to human rights violations, support civil society organisations and independent journalists, and continue to advocate democratic values”, explained Oliver Röpke at the plenary session. According to Ms Tsikhanouskaya, the EESC’s constant support and cooperation play a crucial role in empowering Belarusian civil society, amplifying the voice of Belarusians fighting for freedom, dignity and fundamental rights.
