Commissioner for Human Rights calls on Germany to respect freedom of expression and demonstration in context of conflict in Gaza

In a letter published on Thursday 19 June and addressed to Alexander Dobrindt, the German Federal Minister of the Interior, Michael O’Flaherty, the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights, expresses concern about restrictions on freedom of expression and freedom of peaceful assembly for demonstrators in the context of the conflict in Gaza, as well as reports of excessive use of force by the police against demonstrators, including minors.
