Many Member States defend customs duty of 75 euros/tonne for future banana import regime

Brussels, 09/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - During the meeting on Monday afternoon, the Special Agriculture Committee (SAC) plus ten Member States including Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium and Poland (and others from among the new Member States), defended the setting in place, from 2006 on, of a 75 euros/tonne customs duty on Community banana imports from Latin American, Caribbean and African countries.
