09/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European magazine cafébabel is holding a conference in Brussels on 10 November on the theme "Is European Federalism dead?". At an initial table round ("Is the crisis in politics irreversible?"), Virgilio Dastoli, Director of the European Commission's Rome office and former close co-worker of Alterio Spinelli, and Hartmut Marhold, Director of the Centre International de Formation Européenne, will be amongst those taking the floor. There will be a second table round "Federalism: an antidote to economic decline?"), at which MEP Piia-Noora Kauppi will speak. MEPs Bronislaw Geremek, Marco Pannella and Jo Leinen, President of the Union of European Federalists, will be among the speakers for the third table round, which asks the question: "What is to be done to democratise the Union of 25?".
