Increase in EU retail sales in April

Luxembourg, 07/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - According to an initial estimate published by Eurostat on Friday, the volume of retail sales increased by 1.0% in the euro zone and by 2.2% in the European Union (EU25) in April 2004, compared to April 2003. Retail sales of food (including drinks and tobacco) increased 0.8% in the euro zone and 1.1% in the EU25. The non-food sector increased by 0.9% and 2.9% respectively.
