Commission wants to modernise and harmonise information systems on inland waterway transport

Brussels, 07/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 25 May, the European Commission adopted a proposal of directive aimed at harmonising the information services on "River Information Services (RIS) in the European Union. The aim is to allow continued and harmonious use of information services across borders to make maritime transport more effective and competitive.
