06/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has approved funding for two new development programmes for Niger, under the 9th EDF. The first, totalling EUR 1.87 million, aims to increase the country's statistical capacities with a view to ensuring that poverty is closely monitored, and the second, which amounts to EUR 1.9 million, will provide support for the electoral process via the United Nations Development Programme.
