ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) insurance

The Belgian-Dutch financial service group FORTIS has withdrawn some 1.8 billion dollars from the floatation of around 56% (80 million shares) of the capital of ASSURANT, the new name of its US insurance arm. The definitive price of the shares of this subsidiary has been set at 22 dollars. FORTIS will keep the remaining 44%, or 62.2 million shares valued at around 1.1 billion EUR.
