Brussels, 06/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Jürgen Storbeck, Director of the European Police Office, and the Director General of the Colombian police force, Jorge Castro, are to sign a cooperation agreement in Brussels on Monday in the presence of Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and CFSP High Representative Javier Solana. The agreement will organise the exchange of information between Colombian and European police forces in the context of inquiries into activities relating to international organised crime: drug trafficking, the trafficking of nuclear and radioactive substances, illegal immigration, the trafficking of people, trafficking of counterfeit money and money laundering. A liaison officer on each side will be entrusted with organising information exchanges on routes taken by those trafficking, methods of investigation, legal practices, etc. The agreement also provides for the organisation of common training courses and seminars as well as the exchange of officials. It will take effect upon signature.
