Luxembourg, 06/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - A delegation of the directorate for lending operations outside Europe at the European Investment Bank (EIB) will be in Brazil next week to carry out an assessment of the financing projects in which it is taking part. Jean-Louis Biancarelli, Director General, will head the delegation, and attend discussions on means to strengthen the Bank's activity in that country. Brazil is the main beneficiary of EIB loans intended for the financing of investments in productive activities in Latin America. The diversified portfolio of financing extended by the Bank to Brazil directly supports private sector investment. Main investments supported are: those of Pirelli, TIM, Telefonica, Itaú-BBA, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Veracel, as well as the Bolivia-Brazil gas pipeline. Projects financed by the EIB present a mutual interest for Brazil and for the EU.
