Following to outbreak of foot and mouth disease with pigs in United Kingdom all live animal and animal product exports by this country are banned until 1 March

Brussels, 22/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - The outbreak of the foot and mouth disease in pigs in the United Kingdom lead the Commission to decide, on Wednesday, to suspend until 1 March all exports by the United Kingdom of live animals and animal products towards the other Union Member States. This safeguard measure, applied immediately, will be reviewed by Union veterinary experts next 27 February during the meeting of the Standing Veterinary Committee.
