France's ACTIVCARD, specialised in authenticating transactions over the Internet, has signed an agreement in view of acquiring the Australian firm AUTHENTIC8, specialsed in the same sector, for 46 million euro. ACTIVCARD considers that this operation should give it an additional turnover of between 3 and 5 million dollars or 2001.
