Stockholm, 22/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - The UN Special Envoy for the peace process, Terje Röd Larsen, met on 22 February, in Stockholm, the president of the Council of the European Union, Anna Lindh, on the occasion of his tour to discuss the critical economic situation in the Palestinian areas (the UN Coordinator in the Occupied Territories has drafted a report on this subject). In Stockholm, Mr Larsen also met Gun-Britt Andersson, Secretary of State at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and Pär Nuder State, Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office.
The EU Council Presidency points out that the Middle East peace process will be one of the themes discussed during the General Affairs Council on 26 and 27 February in Brussels.
