ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) chemicals

German group CELANESE AG (turnover EUR 4.3 billion in 1999) is to acquire the polyvinyl alcohol activities for the manufacture of glues and security glass of American APCI - AIR PRODUCTS AND CHEMICALS INC for the sum of EUR 359 million. This sector represented a turnover of $220 million in 1999 with an annual production capacity of 90,000 tonnes, and employs around 200.
