Commission clears BT/JT/Vodafone joint venture for exploitation of UMTS in Japan

Brussels, 06/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the creation of a joint venture between British Telecommunications Plc (BT), Japan Telecom Co.Ltd (JT) and Vodafone Air Touche plc (Vodafone). The new joint undertaking, J-Phone Communication, has been awarded a license for the exploitation of third generation UMTS mobile telecommunications in Japan.
