EP amends Council "common position" on aid to economic and social development to place emphasis on respect of minorities, abolition of death penalty and exclusion of nuclear energy

Strasbourg, 06/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Voting on second reading on Wednesday on the Council's "common position" of 13 June concerning the implementation of the regulation on actions aimed at economic and social development in Turkey, the European Parliament approved amendments aimed at underpinning the importance of the problem of minorities and earthquake prevention.
