Monti welcomes cooperation of German authorities on difficult issue of State guarantees to regional public banks

Brussels, 09/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - European Competition Commissioner Mario Monti said before the press that his discussions with the German authorities for finding a solution to the problems of State guarantees granted to German regional banks are making headway. He described as "constructive" his meetings on Tuesday evening in Brussels with German State Secretary for Finance Caio Koch-Weser, President of the regional bank WestLB Friedel Neuber, and Finance Minsiter for Nord-Westfalen...
