Brussels, 03/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission authorized aid for 47 Spanish coal companies totalling EUR 642 million over the period 1 January 2002 to 23 July 2002. The money is operating aid and aid to cover a reduction in operations and exceptional charges (social expenses and the technical costs of closing mines).
