GENERAL NEWS / (eu) ep/women/globalisation

01/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the EP rejected (158 for, 247 against and 91 abstentions) the report by Maria Antonia Avilés Perea on the consequences of globalisation on women emigrants from Mediterranean countries (see EUROPE of 26/27 February, p.16). Rejection came after the adoption of amendments eliminating all reference to the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean citizenship.
