ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) privatization

- Brazil: the local authorities have announced that six foreign groups were interested in the privatization of CESP - COMPANHIA ENERGETICA DE SAO PAULO-PARANA, which produces over 50% of the electricity in the State of Sao Paulo. These are the American firms AES, DUKE ENERGY and SOUTHERN, France's EDF, Portugal's EDP and Spain's ENDESA. The operation involves 38.66% of all the capital, sold for a bottom price of 1.4 bn real.
