Commissioner David Byrne sends back Germany and Spain to their responsibilities in the surfacing of Mad Cow in their country's and invites them to ensure respect for Community legislation

Brussels, 28/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - Reacting to complete ban measures on animal meals announced by Spain and Germany, following the appearance of Mad Cow in these two countries until now spared by the outbreak, David Byrne, European Commission for Health and Consumer Protection, announced on Sunday, in a press release: "Germany and Spain may have been too complacent about the risk of BSE (bovine encephalopathy spongiform).
