Parliament approves Charter to be proclaimed in Nice - Vitorino insists on reference in Treaty Article 6

Strasbourg, 14/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - Through the assent procedure and with a very large majority (410 in favour, 93 against and 27 abstentions), the European Parliament approved the draft Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. It instructed its President, Nicole Fontaine, to proclaim the Charter jointly with the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.
