GENERAL NEWS / (eu) eu/ethics

14/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - Without underrating the major interest of research into original human cells and their prospective promising therapies, the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies (GEE) considers that "for the time being, the creation of embryos by transfer of somatic cells ("therapeutic cloning") for research needs on cell therapy would be premature. EUROPE will come back to the GEE opinion in greater detail.
