14/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - Rapporteur of the European Parliament on the "safe harbour" issue, Italian national Elena Paciotti (Democratici di Sinistra) regrets that Commissioner Frits Bolkestein does not intend to follow-up the EP's request for additional guarantees to protect European citizens' rights before authorising free movement of data between the European Union and the United States. She hopes that the Commission, as a college, will amend this position.
