Financing of EUR 2 million for the modernisation and protection of intellectual property in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka

Brussels, 14/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - European External Relations Commissioner Chris Patten signed financing agreements with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for cooperation programmes in the field of intellectual property rights. EUR 750,000 are provided for Bangladesh and EUR 570,000 for Sri Lanka. The aim of the projects is to "facilitate further transfer of technology by upgrading the IPR system in line with the EU standards and practices", states the Commission.
