New six monthly Commission report on car prices in EU reopens debate on prices in United Kingdom

Brussels, 13/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The latest report by the European Commission on the price of cars in Europe has reopened the debate over the high prices of automobiles in the United Kingdom. In a six monthly report published this week, the Commission notes that sale prices for new cars in the EU still vary by 20% on average from one Member State to another, and that they remain higher in the United Kingdom "after being converted into Euro."
