Overall satisfaction, with some critical remarks from social partners over outcome of informal Social Council in Paris - One difference to overcome

Brussels, 12/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The priority granted by the French Presidency of the Council to progress in European social policy and the fight against precariousness was the subject of unanimous satisfaction on the part of EU Employment and Social Affairs Ministers at their meeting in Paris (see EUROPE of 11 July, p.10). The President, Martine Aubry took as rallying cry the demand to retain "the same energy in building social Europe as the EU had put into creating the single market...
