In the United States, DEXTER CORPORATION has accepted the $1.9 bn bid by the Californian biotechnology firm INVITROGEN CORPORATION ($68.3 million turnover in 1999). DEXTER was also sought after by ISP - INTERNATIONAL SPECIALITY PRODUCTS, which was offering $1.04 bn.
