Enlargement on agenda of IGC, Fundamental Charter, Economic Government at heart of MEPs concerns

Strasbourg, 16/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The resolution on the Feira Summit adopted by the EP (216 votes for, but 145 against and the equivalent abstentions; see yesterday's EUROPE, p.10) calls for the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the institutional aspects of the common defence and security policy, the strengthening of the Community institutions within the WEU (while maintaining the independence of the ECB) to be put in the Treaty, and the turning of the treaties into a constitution....
