Britain's GALLAHER has bought from the American group VECTOR the Russian company LIGETT-DUCAT, Russia's leading cigarette maker and distributor (260 billion cigarettes sold in 1999, annual turnover of USD 92.5 million), for USD 390.5 million, including recovery of a debt. It also concluded an accord with a VECTOR subsidiary for the acquisition of the land adjoining the LIGETT-DUCAT plant (Moscow) for USD 1.5 million.
