Commission welcomes technical agreement on wine and spirits - Content of agreement slated to enter into force 1 September

Brussels, 15/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The success achieved by the negotiators for the Union and South Africa in finalising at technical level the the two bilateral agreements on wine and spirits (see EUROPE of 15 June, p. 11) has been welcomed by Commissioners Poul Nielson (development) and Franz Fischer (agriculture) as a fair result for both parties, which should help facilitate bilateral trade while preserving the Community's interests through adequate protection of geographical...
