In the United States, AT&T has finalised its merger with the cable operator MEDIAONE, thus creating the leading US cable operator. The merger, announced a year ago for a figure of USD 58 billion, is now estimated at USD 44 billion on the basis of AT&T's closing price on Wednesday.
