Berlin, 16/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - During his visit to Berlin, Thursday evening, President Putin proposed to associate the European Union to the American/Russian projects in view of establishing in Moscow a Joint early warning centre (the creation of this centre, thanks to which Moscow and Washington will exchange real-time information on all missile launches from their territory or towards another territory, was decided during the first Clinton-Putin Summit, 4 June in Moscow). The Russian President told the press that, during the informal dinner in Berlin with Chancellor he asked him to discuss it "with the European partners". Let us recall that the relations with Russia will be discussed during the European Council in Feira, and that the European Leaders who met the new President of the Russian Federation will not doubt inform their EU partners in Feira.
We must integrate Russia into Europe at all levels, including that of security and defence, said Chancellor Schröder to the press.
