In its first annual activity report, OLAF expresses some worries for follow-up of investigations, certain reticence by Member States and failures of its statute

Brussels, 16/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - In its first activity report (see EUROPE of 15 June, p.10) the European anti-fraud office underlined the difficulties faced during its first year of existence.

OLAF is mainly worried over the follow-up of its investigations: "the question of the effectiveness of legal follow-ups to the office's operational work is present with greater acuteness."
