Quality of domestic bathing waters is improving but much remains to be done, quality of coastal waters shows only slight improvement

Brussels, 30/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The quality of the Union's bathing waters, by far its most polluted, is showing improvement for the third consecutive year. The quality of coastal waters, although less a cause for concern, is improving only slightly. The results of the report on the quality of bathing waters in the course of the 1999 bathing season are encouraging but far from excellent.
