The French firm IMERYS (turnover of EUR 2.6 billion in 1999) has bought QUIMBARRA (American industrial gas group PRAXAIR), the leading South American producer of calcium carbonate, thus reinforcing its world leadership in pigments and additives. QUIMBARRA (annual turnover of EUR 55 million) manages 15 factories in Latin America.
