Brussels, 30/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has authorised the Italian firm Magneti Marelli to take over its compatriot Seima Italiana SpA. Magneti Marelli, subsidiary of the automobile group Fiat active in the automobile equipment sector, and especially lighting for light vehicles, had, end-December 1999, announced the takeover of Seima (annual turnover of some 200 million euro), specialised in car lighting, for 160 million euro. The Commission examined the effects of this operation on the car rear light market and the third stop light market and concluded that there were sufficient large rivals, such as France's Valeo and Germany's Hella. Consequently, this transaction will not lead to an individual or collective dominant position on the market in question.
