Italian parliamentarians protest against certain affirmations of President of slovenia

Strasbourg, 19/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - Several elements of the speech delivered by the Slovene president of the EP, criticising the "tendency" of certain EU countries to slow down enlargement because of "bilateral demands" linked to the Second World War (see EUROPE of 18 May, page 3) have caused protest from Italian MEPs, who took the floor at the opening of Thursday's sitting.
