Brussels, 19/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is of the view that the situation in Hong Kong is satisfactory on the whole, as regards both application of the "one country, two systems" principle (essentially meaning that Hong Kong is part of China, but that it maintains a liberal economic system) and the economic situation and co-operation with the EU (which could nonetheless be strengthened).
