Brussels, 19/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Intergovernmental Conference will meet in Brussels late Monday morning, chaired by Jaime Gama, to tackle essentially, after the usual exchange of views with European Parliament President Nicole Fontaine, the amendments to make to the Treaty that could prove necessary, to succeed in enlargement, regarding the European institutions other than the Commission and Council - the European Parliament, the Court of Justice/Court of First Instance, the Court of Auditors, the Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions. These issues were examined at the last meeting of the Seixas da Costa meeting (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.4, for the Presidency's proposals regarding the European Parliament, and, further in this bulletin, the proposals of the Court of Auditors on its own future). You may recall that a "Group of Friends of the Presidency" has examined in more detail possible changes to the Court of Justice and the reorganisation of the EU's legal structures.
