Parliament rejects, with support from Commission, the Finnish initiative on re-entry for foreign nationals

Strasbourg, 19/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption of the report by Greek Socialist Anna Karamanou, the European Parliament rejected the initiative by Finland which proposed a Council regulation on the mutual obligations of Member States regarding the re-admission of third country nationals. The EP felt that the initiative, both from the formal point of view and from the point of view of content, makes the European Parliament consultation procedure ineffective and inappropriate....
