- Germany: A third portion of the capital of DEUTSCHE TELEKOM will be privatised between 31 May and 15 June. Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), the German public bank for reconstruction, announced that private individuals from 16 European countries, and small investors from the US, Canada and Japan were being invited to participate in the offer, with a separate share being set aside for institutional investors. KfW plans to sell 654.3 million shares or 21.6% of the German operator, which will come on top of the 35% already privatised. - Uzbekistan: this country will be privatising a large portion of its gas and oil industry, selling a 49% stake in UZBEKNEFTEGAZ. This company is valued at 171 billion sum (or EUR 1.7 billion).
