British Conservatives do not receive Parliament's backing for the transfer of the England-Germany match to Brussels

Strasbourg, 19/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - British Conservatives, lead by Christopher Heaton-Harris and Roy Perry, did not secure Parliament's support for the transfer of the England-Germany football match to the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, for euro 2000. Their resolution, stating that Charleroi's Stade du Pays did not meet Belgian security standards, was rejected, with 29 votes in favour, 181 against and 7 abstentions.
