Geneva, 19/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The relevant body of the WTO has authorised Ecuador to slap sanctions on the EU for the harm it has suffered due to the EU's not yet having altered its banana import regime. The Ecuadorian delegation declared that it would continue to seek a solution with the EU to avoid the sanctions, solution based on compensations, and that, anyhow, the sanctions would not apply to the Netherlands or Denmark.
