Standing Veterinary Committee postpones to 23 May its vote on the proposal for the elimination of specified risk materials from the food chain

Brussels, 12/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Commission's new proposal for regulating the use within the Union, in the human and animal food chain, of specified risk materials (SRM) as a means of boosting efforts to combat mad cow disease and reduce the risks of public exposure to the new variant of Kreutzfeldt-Jacob disease, will not be submitted to the Standing Veterinary Committee until 23 May.
